RVA Creates asks you to vote for best Richmond commercial

RICHMOND, VA (WWBT) - You can vote right now on an ad to air on TV to entice people to visit downtown Richmond. RVA Creates is holding a contest for the best commercial promoting all that downtown has to offer,  NBC 12 is proud to be a partner.

RVA Creates asked the community to come up with ideas for 30 second commercials promoting downtown restaurants, events, attractions, shops, and lofts. They received 28 entries of rough cuts, the first drafts, if you will, of these spots.

Ideas range from a musical montage where you choose your downtown adventure, to Billy the Yank discovering Richmond 150 years later, to a baby growing up just as Richmond has grown up.

There are 28 in all, but the theme is the same: to lure customers to visit downtown. You can vote on the People's Choice Award.  The winner will get $1000.

RVA Creates has partnered with Venture Richmond, The Martin Agency, the VCU BrandCenter, the West Cary Group, JHI, Elevation, the Hodges Partnership, Big River Advertising, and CRT.

A panel of creative directors from some of these local ad agencies will choose a first and second place winner for more cash prizes. The winning directors will be paired with those creative directors to create finished ads, which may be aired during an NFL game on NBC and on other stations.

You can vote once each day now through October 1. Go to http://www.nbc12.com/rvacreates.
