HENRICO, VA (WWBT) -
William Hedgepeth is now facing felony charges after trying to evade police. Investigators say officers were trying to pull him over when he suddenly took off. Hedgepeth crashed his car and then started running. That's when one of the officers chasing him opened fire and hit him.
Hedgepeth is still recovering. It is not clear why he bolted. Hedgepeth is still recovering.
The officer that opened fire has been put on administrative leave. Police say that this is standard procedure any time an officer fires his or her gun.
