ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

A 4th quarter field goal proved to be the difference as Westover sent region 1-AAAA a message beating Monroe 17-14.  The Tornados were ranked 10th in the state poll coming into the game.  Westover jumped out to a 14-0 lead at halftime.

In the second half, Monroe responded with a long drive capped off by a Devontay Stephens touchdown run that made it 14-7.  Westover kicked a 43 yard field goal in the 4th quarter to make the score 17-7. Monroe would pull within 3 but that's as close as they would get.

Westover got the 3 point win 17-14.  The Patriots improve to 2-2 and will play at Cairo next Friday, meanwhile Monroe falls to 2-2 and will host Albany next Saturday.
