M Street fire ruled suspicious

RICHMOND, VA (WWBT) -

A Saturday morning fire in Richmond's north side is being investigated as suspicious, according to a Richmond Fire spokesperson.

Firefighters were called out to the 3300 block of M Street, where flames were visible coming from the side of the home. It took crews about 20 minutes to get that fire under control, but then firefighters discovered another fire on the building's second floor.

The residents of the home were not there at the time of the fire.

We're told there was approximately $60,000 worth of damage to the building. The Red Cross is now assisting those displaced.

One firefighter was injured, but was treated at a local hospital and has already returned to work.

If you have any information about this fire, you're asked to call Crime Stoppers at 780-1000.
