Teen accused in Henrico party shooting faces bond hearing

HENRICO, VA (WWBT) -

The young man accused of being involved in a west end party shooting could get out of jail Tuesday.

Marcus Moore, 19, stands accused of two felonies including malicious wounding. The accusations followed a wild party this month during which a 17-year-old girl was shot in the head.

Monday, Moore's friends and family maintained their stance that he's not the guy. Their display at the Juvenile and Domestic Relations courthouse showed they don't plan on backing down.

About 20 supporters showed up in t-shirts that read "Free Marcus", though courthouse security made most of them -including Marcus's mother Germaine Raines- turn the shirts inside-out.

ANDY: "They didn't like that so much when you got in?"
GERMAINE: "No, it's intimidation. And you can't sway the court."

Fashionable, or not, Moore's people say their message remains the same: that the only young man arrested so far in connection to the Hilbingdon Road party shooting didn't do it.

"It was a case of being in the wrong place at the wrong time," Raines said Monday.

Friends say Moore was actually in a car being driven away when the gunfire rang out following that party early on September 2. It was around that moment that police say a bullet struck a 17-year-old girl in the head.

Back at court, Moore's supporters prayed Monday morning for the young man's release. Instead, attorneys met behind closed doors and agreed to delay his scheduled bond hearing.

"Something gotta get solved. People need to start doing they work," said Moore's friend Chris Epps.

Afterward, prosecutors declined to reveal their evidence. Henrico police say their investigation is ongoing. If new details are to be revealed -and Marcus Moore released, or not- it will all have to wait at least one more day.

"I just feel like the case will be solved and they'll find the real shooter," Raines said.

The bond hearing is now scheduled for Tuesday at 11:00 a.m.

The injured girl is now said to be recovering at her Hanover County home. Neither she, nor the owners of the house where the party occurred have responded to requests for an interview.
