Two men are on the run, wanted in connection with a deadly shooting in the city's east end that left one man dead.
Police shut down Newton Road for hours as detectives investigated and searched for the two men.
The biggest piece of evidence towed from the crime scene: the car where the victim's body was found.
Police say a person flagged down an officer patrolling the road and pointed out the car - near the train tracks.
Officers say they soon discovered two other men had been in that car with the victim and had taken off.
The victim is described only as a man in his 30s. The description of the two suspects is also vague.
Police say two men with beards were seen leaving the scene.
A k-9 unit searched near businesses a few blocks from where the car was found.
Newton Road, from the Richmond-side at Potomac Street, to Bickerstaff Road in Henrico had to be shut down.
"We have our forensics crew on the scene, our investigators and we're processing the vehicle," said Gene Lepley for Richmond Police.
People who work near the railroad tracks were forced to avoid the area while investigators gathered evidence.
Stuart Harlow said there has been theft in the area - but he's never seen anything deadly until now.
"We work day and night, but we don't have any concerns about any crime coming into the actual business," said Harlow.
If you know anything that could help police, call Crime Stoppers at 780-1000. Tips can be anonymous.
Police believe this is an isolated incident.
