A special plaque has been dedicated to a Richmond woman killed in the 9/11 attacks.
Alysia Basmajian's mother-in-law and father-in-law donated a prayer vigil stand in her honor to the Cathedral of the Sacred Heart. A dedication plaque is engraved with her name.
Alysia was raised in Richmond and worked as an accountant for Cantor Fitzgerald in the Twin Towers.
She left behind a husband, young daughter, and many family and friends.
Father Patrick Golden said Alysia's loved ones decided on a very fitting tribute for such a beloved woman.
"They'd (the family) asked to do it, and we suggested this. And we dedicated it back in December," said Father Golden.
Parishioners light candles in honor of loved-ones or for special prayers at the display. The priest says the Cathedral didn't have one of these prayer stands for years, until the Basmajian's donated the one in Alysia's honor.
