Adequate sleep for children

COLONIAL HEIGHTS, VA (WWBT) -

Dr. John Clay is reminding parents to get their kids back on a regular sleep schedule.

A childs behavior and concentration may be adversely affected by inadequate sleep.

Children age 5-12 generally need 10-11 hours of sleep, where kids ages 13-18 need 8-9 hours nightly.

Encourage a good routine of a consistent bedtime and awakening schedule. Avoid caffeine and turn off any televisions or computers in the room during sleep time.
