12 On Your Side Alert: Job postings on Facebook

RICHMOND, VA (WWBT) - Many people use Facebook to connect with people on a personal level and use LinkedIn to connect professionally.

Facebook is keeping any details of creating a job connection feature pretty private, but according to the Wall Street Journal, Facebook is in the process of creating a "LinkedIn" job like feature.

Cyber expert Theresa Payton says it could be in place by fall. Wall Street Journal has learned that it will gather up the entire job postings out there on other websites and make them available in one place.

"When I talk to people in their 30's, 40's, and 50's, they want them separate. They do not want the two intermingled. They don't want the place they talk to kids, grandkids, and friends to be where they look for a job." say's Theresa.

Kacy Jenkins uses Facebook to connect to people and also LinkedIn to connect professionally. She thinks otherwise. Kacy and most other college graduates wished Facebook had a job listing feature before now because it would have been helpful in finding a job in their career field.

But if our Facebook profiles will be linked to jobs we're interested in Theresa is clear, don't wait until the feature is in place to take a critical look at your posts.

Theresa says "This is the time to clean it up. Is my profile professional ready? It's been my personal profile. Sure I understand employers might go there to personally check me out, but I didn't start there to apply for a job."

If you are thinking about using this new feature, you'll need to make some changes to your profile like what Kacy will be doing if she signs up for the new service.

"I guess I would put a different page. A professional page that would display when applying for a job."
