A big crowd is expected to come out Tuesday to talk about a major construction project in Mechanicsville.
Hanover county is moving forward with plans to extend Atlee Road.
This multi-million dollar project would extend Atlee Road half a mile, but it could force a few families to move from their homes.
The project will require building a bridge over railroad tracks, adding traffic signals and making changes to Cool Spring and Atlee Station Roads. This is an attempt to keep up with the added traffic in this growing part of Hanover County.
Atlee Road runs through the Rutland Development off US 301. This project has not gone over well with a handful of people in the area that could be forced to move out of the path of the new road. New sidewalks are also in the plans as well as accommodations for bicycles. It is projected to cost more than $11 million.
The meeting starts 5:00 p.m. at Cool Spring Elementary School. The meeting will run until 7:00 p.m.
