Police have arrested a man suspected of causing a wreck that injured three people, including a nine-year-old child.
John Squires of Chesterfield is charged with DUI and felony hit-and-run. Police say Squires was driving on West Hundred road when he hit another car Saturday night.
A nine-year old girl is fighting for her life. She's in the hospital with serious injuries.
Police say the car was pulling onto West Hundred road from Parker lane when it was hit. Investigators say after the wreck, Squires ran away from the pick-up truck he was driving, but he didn't get far before they caught him.
The road right in front of the YMCA and Sunset Memorial Park Cemetery was shut down in both directions from 10:00 p.m. Saturday Until 3:00 a.m. Sunday while police investigated the crash.
The speed limit on West Hundred road is 45 MPH. Squires is currently being held in the Chesterfield County Jail.
Witnesses tell police it appeared squires was driving well above that limit. At last check, that nine-year-old girl is still in the hospital with life-threatening injuries.
