August 23 of next week it will mark the one year anniversary of the tragic 5.8 magnitude earthquake that hit Louisa county. The damage has been estimated to be over $71 million and $60 million alone in school damage. Although the aftermath of the earthquake was devastating for Louisa, the spirit of the people was never broken. There are hundreds of examples of how people came together from around the state and the country to aide Louisa in its time of need. The character of the people always makes the difference.
Many people in Louisa are still picking up the pieces. A recovery like this takes years and many times those not caught in the middle of the storm don't realize that needs still exist.
If you are interested in keeping up with progress in Louisa or want to know how you can help, go to Louisacounty.com. It feels good to give a helping hand when you can. Because when all is said and done, what we do for others we do for ourselves.
