Police update investigation into Monday night shootings

RICHMOND, VA (WWBT) -

Richmond Police have made two arrests in a series of unrelated shootings Monday.

There were a total of five incidents, including one homicide, reported during a 12-hour period. The department says the events are isolated and not random.

The first shooting took place at 12:05 p.m. in the 3800 block of Caulder Court. The victim suffered non-life-threatening injuries. Police arrested 24-year-old David D. Tinsley on charges of attempted murder. 

At 8:03 p.m. another person was reported shot and suffering from non-life-threatening injuries in the 3300 block of Midlothian Turnpike. Detectives are still following up on leads in that case.

37-year-old Lorenzo P. Miliam was found shot to death outside an apartment in the 1500 block of Treehaven Drive around 8:30 p.m. Police are still looking for a suspect and haven't named a motive.

Police arrested 24-year-old Mahki R. Hopkins in connection with a shooting in the 1400 block of Lenmore Street at approximately 10:11 p.m. The victim's injuries in that case are said to be life-threatening. Hopkins was arrested within a short period of time and charged with malicious wounding and use of a firearm during the commission of a felony.
