Man avoids jail time for faulty generator work

CHESTERFIELD, VA (WWBT) -

The owner of a company that installed faulty generators will avoid jail time under a plea agreement.

Stephen Mills pleaded guilty to a single felony count of construction fraud Tuesday morning. He was sentenced to 5 years in jail, with the entire term suspended.

He agreed to pay back two victims a total of $18,750 in monthly installments of $300.

Chesterfield County claims Virginia Air Mechanical performed faulty whole-house generator installations in dozens of homes.
