Poorly fitting backpacks

School is right around the corner and in this week's neighborhood health watch, we get you prepared.

Dr. Kelly McDonald is warning parents about picking the wrong backpack.

The wrong backpack can cause low or mid back pain that can get worse at the end of the day.

Choose a backpack with wide, padded shoulders and a padded back. Your child should always wear both shoulder straps.

If your child's back hurts, they need to rest, put ice on their back and take ibuprofen. If the pain persists, you should consult your doctor.
