Family and friends will come together Thursday to remember a VCU student who died earlier this week.
18 year-old Caitlin Kremp died in a hiking accident in Colorado. The VCU community is mourning the loss. Kremp died instantly after falling 200 feet from a ledge Tuesday.
She was among a group of nine students who were part of a trip sponsored by the Outdoor Adventure Program in VCU's Recreational Sports Department.
Caitlin had a position as a student worker in the program. She was a business major who made the Dean's List. Her hometown is Hampton, VA.
She was the captain of the girl's soccer team in high school, and that's how friends will remember her Thursday night.
They are holding a soccer tournament to raise money for her favorite foundation. It will take place at the Buckroe soccer fields in Hampton.
Olympian Keli Smith Puzo sent out a tweet remembering Caitlin. Puzo is competing in the Olympics in field hockey and is dedicating her game to Caitlin.
The two met when Caitlin was featured in an episode of MTV's made.
VCU says it is providing grief counseling to students.
