A Richmond grand jury indicted a driver Monday in the hit and run death of a bicyclist last week.

The grand jury certified the charge of felony hit and run against Elias Webb in the death of Lanie Kruszewski. A capias was issued for his arrest. A court date has not yet been set. The charge is a class 5 felony, which can result in up to 10 years in prison if convicted.

The 30 year-old had admitted to police that he was driving the SUV that hit and killed last Kruszewski July 29, prosecutors said.

She had just left work and was riding her bike on River Road when she was hit. The 24-year-old was laid to rest Friday. Hundreds of cyclists turned out Sunday for a ride in her memory.

An online search of court records reveals Webb has had 11 traffic tickets in the last 4 years. The tickets range from driving an uninspected vehicle to speeding and disregarding a highway sign.

He also had a reckless driving charge reduced in 2009 to improper control while driving.

Webb works in sales for the Richmond Times-Dispatch. He's also the son of a local attorney and has been working at the paper for nearly three years.
