RICHMOND, VA (WWBT) - The departure of Old Dominion and Georgia State will leave a void in CAA football after the 2012 season, however, according to a report, the conference has taken big steps to having that gap filled when the time comes.
Newsday is reporting that Stony Brook and Albany will join the CAA for football for the 2013 season. Stony Brook is currently in the Big South, while Albany is the 2012 preseason favorite in the Northeast Conference.
Both Old Dominion and Georgia State are departing the CAA to make the jump to FBS status in football.
The CAA released the following statement through e-mail on Saturday:
"Out of respect for the process, the schools, and the conferences involved the CAA will not comment on specific scenarios in realignment or media speculation about specific scenarios. When the time is appropriate we will release the news accordingly."
