HENRICO, VA (WWBT) - Derrick Green has taken his college scholarship offers, which exceed 30 from Division I universities, and trimmed them down to just six, and a school in the commonwealth remains in the mix to earn the services of one of the most sought-after running backs in the country.
Virginia Tech remains in the hunt, as Green will look closer at the Hokies, along with Tennessee, Oregon, Auburn, Mississippi and Michigan. Green is kicking off his senior season at Hermitage and says he will now put his recruiting to the side in order to focus solely on the season.
Green led the Panthers to a 12-1 record in 2011 and a state semifinal appearance. Hermitage opens up the 2012 season on August 25 against Fork Union at Oscar Smith.
