Amazon is serious about hiring full time employees for the upcoming holiday shopping season. Amazon has become a house hold name, more so, in Chesterfield and Dinwiddie counties now, because jobs are about to boom in the area.
About 1000 full time positions for the Chesterfield location and nearly 300 at the Dinwiddie warehouse.
The warehouse jobs will pay $11 to $18 an hour and include benefits. Office jobs will vary in salary.
And once in full capacity - the company is expected to swell an additional thousand part time employees during the holidays.
The Chesterfield site will be packed with conveyer belts. The heavy lifting limited to what can fit in crates the size of recycling bins.
The Dinwiddie County site will house more bulky items, like bicycles and golf bags, items workers will have to move manually.
To apply, you need to be 18 or older, you must have a high school diploma or GED and most importantly, you must have a working email account, because the hiring process starts online. You must be able to upload your resume and a copy of your high school diploma or GED online.
Chesterfield County has put together a super team of business experts working with the Virginia Employment Commission, community colleges, and the Department of Labor to make sure the employment is fair and accessible.
"You will be invited if you meet those minimum requirements to their job fair where they will do additional screenings, some interviewing and really they will communicate to you by the end of that day if you're a good candidate for Amazon," said Karen Aylward, Assistant Director for Chesterfield Economic Development.
There are also office positions available in Human Resources, IT, accounting, and management. All jobs are expected to start by the end of October.
