RICHMOND, VA (WWBT) -

Police are investigating a deadly shooting on Richmond's southside. That's where a man was killed outside a Family Dollar store.

This happened in the 3100 block of Jeff Davis Highway.

Police are in the process of letting the victim's family know what happened so we don't know his name just yet.

The victim is in his early 50's and worked at the Family Dollar store. The manager said the victim had worked at the store for the last three to four months. He was killed, after closing up the store.

This shooting happened around 10:30 p.m. in the parking lot of the store.

Richmond Police say officers found a man in his early 50's in a red SUV. That man shot at least once. He was taken to VCU Medical Center where he died.

Police say three suspects were seen running from the area after the shooting. They say the trio ran south on Jeff Davis Highway. Their descriptions are very vague.

The victim's body is now at the medical examiner's office.

If you know anything that can help them find this man's killer, you're asked to call Crime Stoppers at 780-1000.
