RICHMOND, VA (WWBT) - The family of the Virginia Beach homeless man, who was killed by a city truck driver, has accepted a $500,000 settlement from city and its contractor.

52-year-old Michael Knockett was run over and killed last year as city trash crews emptied garbage cans on the beach.

An investigation revealed a snapshot of Knockett was taken by a tourist shortly before he died.
