On Monday, Dinwiddie pit bull owners told to get rid of their animals or face eviction convinced a judge to give them more time.
Residents at the Green Acres Trailer Park had been allowed to have pit bulls, but new management decided to enforce a pit bull ban. In court, the prosecution requested the animal owners be forced out within 30 days. A judge denied that request, and set a trial date. At the time, the property manager declined comment.
A letter from the management's attorney suggested the dogs pose a safety threat. It reads in part: "We would rather be in the news for enforcing our rules in an effort to promote safety, than to be in the news because a dog attacked a resident in our community."
A trail date has been set for September 10.
