Dr. John Clay is helping his elderly patients who bruise easily.
Bruising is a common complaint of elderly patients, especially on the arms.
Many blood thinning medications are the culprit. They not only will cause patients to bruise easier, but it will take longer for bleeding to stop if a skin laceration or tear occurs.
Most patients get used to this over time, but if you feel the bruising is excessive, a trip to the doctor's office for routine blood tests is reasonable.
