SPOTSYLVANIA, VA (WWBT) - Two Spotsylvania sisters were on a weekend trip with their family at Lake Anna when they were attacked by a beaver.
The beaver circled the two girls in the water, then it attacked. The 65-pound beaver left 8 year-old Annabella Radnovich and her 11-year-old sister, Alyssa with severe bite wounds.
"I thought my cousin Samantha was trying to trick me and then it bit my sister," Annabella said. "I tried to run out the lake, but it started swimming around me, and then I tried to get out again and it bit my leg."
Those two little girls are getting rabies shots after the health department confirmed the beaver did have rabies.
State health officials say this is only the fourth time, in the past decade, where a beaver has been confirmed to have rabies.
