Three armed men raided an apartment in Chesterfield, beating the victims inside. The attack happened late Sunday night at the SouthPointe Landing apartments in the Bensley neighborhood.
Police say the robbers knocked on the door around 11 p.m. Sunday. The victims answered to an attack. The suspects forced the victims to the ground, and then hit them several times. No shots were fired, but the men made off with cash and electronics, and fled the area.
The victims weren't seriously injured. Neighbors say they watched a troop of police officers intensely scour the area in the 6000 block of Cricklewood Drive following the incident.
"I saw about seven cops. They were around this area, here," said Ebony White-Lee, a tenant in the complex, pointing towards one of the cookie-cutter apartment buildings.
"There were just a whole bunch of cop cars out here, and they were circling around through the apartment complex," added Katina Holloway, another resident.
However, the three suspects are still at large.
Debbie Blount lives next door to the apartment that residents say was robbed.
"Kind of scary, kind of scary. But…I come and I go, and I don't open my door for any one," said Blount.
Other tenants say they still feel safe, with security making regular rounds.
"It's safe. We have security that drives around," remarked Holloway.
"I feel like it's a pretty safe neighborhood, so I wouldn't expect for that to happen, but anything can happen anywhere," agreed White-Lee.
The apartment complex administrators began circulating a notice, warning tenants of the attack involving three masked men.
The three suspects are described as black men. One was described as 6' 2" with short hair. He was wearing a black shirt and dark-colored pants. Another suspect was wearing a white shirt.
