The Richmond City Jail was briefly locked down due to an inmate who tested positive for active TB.
VCU Medical Center notified the jail around 10:30 a.m. Thursday of the situation, prompting the lock down by the sheriff.
Around 1:20 p.m., the Richmond City Health District cleared the jail to return to normal operations.
The inmate with TB entered the jail on June 21 and was hospitalized July 6. A jail spokesman did not know why he was hospitalized or what prompted the inmate to be tested for TB.
