Police investigate 2 deaths; one a homicide, the other not suspicious

HENRICO, VA (WWBT) -

Henrico Police are investigating a homicide. A man's body was found behind a home on Carroll and 20th streets.  This is a few blocks from Armstrong High School.

Police could only confirm the man is in his 30's.  They are still notifying the family.  A suspect description was not released Wednesday morning.

"I thought it was garbage laying over there and when I kept looking I said, "No it's a body laying over there," says Donna Bagby.  She's lived in the neighborhood for the past decade.

Police found the victim face down in the gravel.  They say his wounds were not obvious.

"I think for anybody it's one of those things you don't expect to see or have happen," says Lt. Linda Toney with Henrico Police.

The people who live in this home would not go on camera but say people  take the route behind their house to go to the store close by.

"No I'm not going to walk through there no more," says one neighbor.

Bagby says most people around here take care of each other.

"You got a lot of senior citizens living around here," she said.

There have been other reports of crime here before.

"The night before that there was gunshots, but last night there was nothing," says Bagby.

Now she has just one message for the person who committed this homicide.

"Do you really want me to say? Stay the hell out.  Take it somewhere else."

There was another death investigation earlier in the morning on Elberon Court off East Laburnum Avenue.  Police say that death is not suspicious and these two incidents are not related.

The family of the homicide victim still needs to be notified.

Police have not released a description of who they are looking for.   If you know anything call Crime Stoppers at 780-1000 or Henrico Police at 501-5000.  Tips can be anonymous.
