Robbers use bricks and a firearm to rob Wendy's

CHESTERFIELD, VA (WWBT) -

Right now Chesterfield Police are looking for three men accused of robbing the Wendy's restaurant on Hull Street.  Officers say they used firearms and bricks to threaten employees.

While it seems extreme to use bricks, police say they've seen suspects do this before.  Employees were only able to give police a vague description of the robbers because the men covered their faces.

Several police cars pull up to the Wendy's at 6824 Hull Street Road minutes after employees call 911.  Surveillance video from the auto repair shop next door, G&N Auto Service, captured their movements.

The main doors were closed, but the drive thru was open.  Detectives say around 1 a.m. on Monday, the three men, one holding a firearm, smashed the window with several bricks.  It shattered and left a gaping hole.  Police say the robbers forced an employee to open the safe, then they took off in a dark sedan.  No shots were fired, but  employees tell us they were shaken up.

"There [are] not really any bad people that you see around," said Steven Rubinos, who works at the auto service shop next door. He says the area is busy and people are always around. "Like nothing we would be worried about with our business."

But they keep cameras rolling at all hours of the day.  Police have already looked at parts of the video, looking for clues.

Detectives are also comparing evidence from this case with other restaurant robberies in the Chesterfield and Richmond area.  They want to see if there are any similarities.

The first suspect, who was carrying the firearm, is described as a black male with a light complexion. He is about 6 feet tall and appeared to be in his early 20s. He was wearing black jeans, a dark-colored hooded sweatshirt and a snow hat; he had a dark-colored bandana covering his face.

The second suspect is described as a black male with a light complexion. He is about 5 feet 6 inches tall, has a thin build and appears to be about 18 years old. He was wearing black pajama pants, a black, long-sleeved shirt and a green snow hat; he had a red bandana covering his face.

The third suspect is described as a black male with a dark complexion. He is about 5 feet 4 inches tall and appears to be in his mid-20s. He was wearing beige pants, a black hooded sweatshirt and a black skull cap.
