Fl. Senator Marco Rubio visits Chesterfield County

CHESTERFIELD, VA (WWBT) - A front runner in the Republican "veepstakes" visited the Richmond area on Saturday. Florida Senator Marco Rubio appeared at the Chesterfield Towne Center Barnes & Noble to sign copies of his new book.

On Friday, Rubio was a guest of NBC12's Andy Jenks on WRVA Radio. Rubio said that despite the buzz surrounding him, Mitt Romney should strongly consider Virginia Governor Bob McDonnell as his running mate.

"You look at what he's done in the state and what he continues to do as governor and he only gets one term and some of the economics in Virginia, I think if the country followed suit in some of those things we'd be much better off, so I think he'd make an excellent choice," Rubio told Jenks.

All eyes are on Virginia during the 2012 presidential election season. In the week ahead, President Obama will be campaigning in the state. We've also learned former New York City Mayor Rudolph Giuliani will be campaigning for Mitt Romney in Virginia Beach and Henrico County, late this week.
