State Police confirm possible break in Blackstone murders

BLACKSTONE, VA (WWBT) -

Virginia State Police, on Friday, announced a break in Wednesday's double homicide in Blackstone. Late Friday night they arrested a person of interest on a unrelated charges. That person was interviewed and the investigation remains ongoing.

On Saturday, the Richmond Times-Dispatch published the person of interest is 33-year-old Clyde Armstrong, of Henrico County.

NBC12 has independently confirmed Armstrong was arrested Friday for child endangerment, drug distribution, possession, and weapons charges. However, Virginia State Police and Henrico County Police are not commenting on what Armstrong's involvement, if any, is with the Blackstone case.

Our calls to the Blackstone Police Department have not been returned.

The bodies of Brian Jones and his pregnant girlfriend, Jasmine Morrison, were discovered July 4. Both appeared to have suffered multiple gunshot wounds in their home on Pickett Court.

A spokesperson with the medical examiner's office says autopsies are not yet complete.
