RICHMOND, VA (WWBT) - There was no draft night magic for VCU's Bradford Burgess. The Benedictine product did not hear his name called during Thursday night's NBA Draft.
One of the best players ever to don the Black & Gold, Burgess worked out for a number of teams over the past few weeks. The former Ram said he was optimistic that he was going to get a chance with the NBA team going into the night. He will likely have a chance to play either in the NBDL, or overseas. Most NBA expert mock drafts did not have Burgess getting taken.
But UVA's Mike Scott will get a chance with an NBA team. The Atlanta Hawks took Scott with the 43rd pick in the NBA draft. The 23-year-old Scott averaged 18 points and 8.3 rebounds as a senior. At 6-foot-8 and 237 pounds, Scott lacks ideal size for an inside player in the NBA but was a strong rebounder in college. He led the Atlantic Coast Conference with his 56.3-percent shooting while ranking second in scoring and fifth in rebounds.
