Earlier this season, Justin Verlander suffered his first three game losing streak since the 2008 season, but if one watches the Goochland native take the hill now, that tough stretch seems like a distant memory.
Verlander tossed a complete game on Sunday to lead the Tigers to a 3-2 victory over the Pittsburgh Pirates. The former Bulldog and Old Dominion star gave up just two earned runs on five hits, striking out seven and walking just one. He moved into the major league lead for strikeouts with 113 with Sunday's performance.
Since the three game skid, Verlander has gone 3-0 in four starts with a 2.10 ERA. On the season, he is 8-4 with a 2.52 ERA. Sunday's complete game effort was his American League-leading fourth complete game of the 2012 season.
