Body found at New Kent County rest stop

Virginia State Police are investigating after a body was found in a parked car at a New Kent County rest stop, Saturday evening.

Virginia State Police say around 6:00 p.m., they found a man in the driver seat of a parked car, unresponsive. We're told the man looks to be in his early 20's.

The car was parked in the front towards the west end of the parking lot. The body has been transported to the Medical Examiner's Office in Richmond. An autopsy will be conducted Monday to determine the exact cause and nature of the death, according to State Police.

Police are working on notifying the family before releasing the man's identity.

The rest stop remains open.
