Mark M. LoweA man accused of firing a shot at a lawyer after a child custody hearing will be held without bond, a judge ruled Friday.
Mark Lowe appeared by video conference from his jail cell on the charges. During the hearing he said he would retain his own attorney. A judge set the preliminary hearing for September 13. Lowe was ordered to remain in jail without bond.
41-year-old Mark Lowe went to the attorney's office at 9401 Courthouse Road across from the Chesterfield courthouse around 1:30 p.m. Thursday and fired one shot at the attorney, police said. No one was hit by the shot.
The attack came hours after he had a child custody hearing and the intended target was the opposing attorney in the case, police said. An off-duty Virginia Capitol Police officer and a Chesterfield County police lieutenant in plainclothes who happened to be nearby quickly disarmed and arrested Lowe.
Lowe is charged with attempted murder, abduction, use of a firearm in the commission of a felony and shooting into an occupied dwelling.
