Victim identified in fatal crash, driver charged with DUI - NBC12.com - Richmond, VA News

One woman is dead and several others injured after a fatal crash that police say was caused by an intoxicated driver.

The Hanover County Sheriff's Office has charged 56-year-old Richard E. Lawrence Jr with DUI following an accident on Pole Green Road near Lee Davis Road, where Lawrence's car struck a SUV head on.

The accident happened around 9 p.m. Monday. The crash killed 55-year-old Mary T. Hoover, who was the passenger in Lawrence's car. She died after being transported to VCU Medical Center.

The four people in the SUV — a woman and three kids, ages 2, 6, and 7 — were treated at VCU Medical Center and released.

Lawrence remains at VCU Medical Center.

Investigators are still looking into the accident and interviewing witnesses. Additional charges may be filed against Lawrence.
