Estranged husband charged with murder of beauty school student

HANOVER, VA (WWBT) -

The Hanover County Sheriff's Office arrested a man Wednesday in connection to the murder of a beauty school student.

Authorities said, on June 2, 33-year-old Ryan Markham used an assault rifle to shoot his estranged wife Sabrina Markham and another man in her house. That man fired back at Ryan Markham. Both men were taken to VCU Medical Center.

Markham was immediately taken into custody by Sheriff's Office personnel upon being released from the hospital. He was transported to Pamunkey Regional Jail in Hanover County, where he is being held without bond.

Markham has been charged with first degree murder, aggravated malicious wounding, and two counts of the use of a firearm in the commission of a felony.

    Two people are being helped by the Red Cross, after a fire broke out at their Richmond home. Crews tell us the fire broke out in the 5500 block of Campbell Avenue around 10:55 this morning. When they got on scene, fire crews saw flames coming from the back of the home. They were able to get the fire under control in about 15 minutes. Officials say everyone got out safely, but the damage was so bad, that a man and woman living in the home have to find a new place to live.
