Hopewell woman stabbed after refusing drugs

HOPEWELL, VA (WWBT) -

A man tried to sell drugs to a woman at her house, then tried to rob her on the street and finally cut and stabbed her, according to Hopewell Police.

The woman was at her home around 9:50 p.m. Monday when a man came to her door and asked her if she wants to buy drugs. The woman said no and shut the door, according to police.

About 20 minutes later the woman was out walking in the area of Roanoke Ave. and Courthouse Road when she saw the man again. This time he tried to rob her, demanding her money and then attacking her, police said. She was cut in her head and back and stabbed in the ribs, before the man ran away.

The woman was taken by helicopter to an area hospital. The injuries are not life-threatening, police said.

She says the suspect is a black male age 17- 21, with bushy eye brows, shoulder length hair, and possibly wearing a white cap, white tee shirt and dark pair of shorts.

Hopewell Police are asking anyone in the area who saw anyone matching the description to contact lead Detective Keith Krueger at (804) 541-2284.
