VA primary voting starts Tuesday

RICHMOND, VA (WWBT) - There is only one statewide race Tuesday. The winner will take on former governor Tim Kaine in what is shaping up to be one of the hottest races in the country.

Former governor George Allen is the favorite to win the Republican nomination for US Senate. He's trying to win back the seat he lost to Jim Webb in 2006. But he's facing some competition. Chesterfield Tea Party activist Jamie Radtke, Chesapeake Minister E.W. Jackson and the always outspoken State Delegate Bob Marshall are all hoping to pull off the upset.

Polls will be open until 7:00 p.m. Tuesday.

Keep in mind you don't need a photo identification to vote today because new identification laws don't go into effect until July 1.
