RICHMOND, VA (WWBT) - In VCU's first season in the Atlantic-10, the only conference foe they will play twice, is their intracity rival.
Other VCU home dates include long-time league stalwarts Dayton, Massachusetts and Saint Joseph's, plus Fordham, George Washington and LaSalle. Dayton, UMass, Saint Joe's and LaSalle all earned NIT bids last year.
The Rams' A-10 road slate is a challenging one, and will include 2012 NCAA Tournament participants Saint Bonaventure, Saint Louis, Temple and Xavier, as well as Charlotte, Duquesne and Rhode Island.
Along with playing VCU at home, Richmond will play Charlotte, Duquesne, George Washington, Rhode Island, defending Atlantic 10 St. Bonaventure and 2013 Sweet 16 participant Xavier.
In addition to a second-straight season playing at VCU's Siegel Center, the Spiders play at Butler, Dayton, Fordham, La Salle, Massachusetts, Saint Joseph's and Temple.
VCU, along with Butler, will move to the A-10 from the Colonial Athletic Association and Horizon League, respectively, next season. The two schools famously met at the 2011 Final Four in Houston, Texas. While the Bulldogs eventually eased past the Rams for a 70-62 win, it did little to dull the shine of VCU's stunning Final Four run.
