CHESTEFIELD, VA (WWBT) - Dr. David Boyd is treating shingles Family Practice Specialists of Richmond.

Shingles is re-activation of the chicken pox virus along a nerve root. This causes a blistery rash that appears as a stripe on one side of the body.

The shingles vaccine may prevent a shingles outbreak or at least decrease its severity.

If you are over age 60 and had chicken pox as a child you need to see your doctor to discuss vaccination.
