RICHMOND, VA (WWBT) - Richmond Police are investigating after one of their officers fired at a suspect in Mosby Court Saturday afternoon.
This all began unfolding around 5:00 p.m. in the 700 block of Mosby Street. Richmond Police tell NBC12 officers had received word of an armed individual in the area.
When officers spotted an individual matching that description, a brief foot pursuit began. Police say the suspect then "challenged" officers, prompting one officer to fire an unknown number of shots, striking the suspect.
That suspect is described only as an adult male. The suspect was taken to VCU Medical Center and is expected to be okay. Witnesses tell us the man was shot in the leg, but police aren't confirming that at this time.
Police also aren't revealing the exact nature of the confrontation that led to the shooting at this time.
