CHESTERFIELD, VA (WWBT) - Chesterfield County Police arrested a teen for threatening to bomb Cosby High School.
An extensive search of the school and the grounds by Chesterfield, Richmond and State police found no evidence of any explosives.
Police have charged the 16-year-old boy with threatening to bomb or damage a public building in relation to this incident. The investigation continued Friday, but additional charges are not expected at this time.
The school sent out the following email to parents:
I want to let you know that police will be releasing information later today that a Cosby student has been arrested. The student has been charged with making a threat against our building.
As a precaution, an extensive search of the school and grounds was made into the early morning by police and nothing was found. I left our building earlier this morning (after 1:00 a.m.) knowing the police had done a thorough search. Their investigation has been ongoing throughout the morning with student support. I have made personal contact directly with those families to follow up.
Thank you for your continued support of Cosby High School. We sincerely appreciate the work of law enforcement to ensure the safety of our school community, and I want you to have been provided this information directly from me.
