Hermitage's Green named to U.S. Army All-American Bowl

RICHMOND, VA (WWBT) - For the second time in three years, Hermitage is sending a player to the biggest state that a high school football star can play on.

Running back Derrick Green will play in the U.S. Army All-American Bowl on January 5th at the AlamoDome in San Antonio, TX.  The game will air on NBC12.

In 2010, Curtis Grant became the first Panther to play in the game.  He would go on to win the National Defensive Player of the Year Award.

Green is a four star recruit, and has been offered by 39 colleges, with the Oregon being the latest.  Among the other schools on his list are: Virginia, Virginia Tech, Ohio State, Penn State, Tennessee, West Virginia, Purdue, Arkansas, Wisconsin, South Carolina, Oklahoma, Alabama, Washington, Southern California, Clemson, Vanderbilt, Michigan, Auburn and Mississippi State. Many players make their announcement of where they're going to school on national television during the broadcast.

The 6-foot-0, 220-pound running back rushed for 1,493 yards and 19 touchdowns last season.
