Richmond man arrested in police chase

A Richmond man faces a felony charge of eluding police after a police chase that reached 100 miles per hour.

State police attempted to pull Byron C. Bukle over for a traffic violation at around 7:40 p.m. on I-95 near Route 288 in Chesterfield County.

A trooper who was pursuing the rider was involved in a crash on I-95 northbound near Willis Road. Police a driver in the center lane, saw the approaching motorcycle and marked state police vehicle with its emergency equipment activated.  The driver tried to change lanes to the right lane just as Bukle changed to the right lane. To avoid striking Bukle, the driver changed back to the center lane, forcing Trooper C.A. Putnam to run off the left side of the roadway and strike the jersey wall. 

The trooper suffered minor injuries and was taken to Saint Francis Hospital. The rider was later caught near Maury Street in Richmond.
