Funeral for stylist killed in Petersburg crash

PETERSBURG, VA (WWBT) - Family and friends will attend a funeral for a popular Petersburg hair salon owner.

She was recently killed in a car crash. This crash happened on Johnson Road near Petersburg High School.

Police say the driver overcorrected and flipped her jeep several times.

People left a mound of flowers and other mementos at the salon she worked at in Old Towne Petersburg.

42-year-old Tammie Dingas was driving when she overcorrected going through a curve in the road and crashed last Friday.

Officers found her body outside of the car when they arrived on scene.

There was one other person in the car with her. He survived the crash, and at last check, he's in stable condition.

Dingas' friends say she was a free spirited person, vibrant and full of life.

Her friends say she just opened up this salon a little less than two years ago.

They say this was her dream come true after cutting hair for 20 years at Southpark Mall.
