COLONIAL HEIGHTS, VA (WWBT) - So many people give of themselves to take care of a loved one with health problems.
But while they are helping someone else out who is looking out for them?
Dr. John Clay has some advice to avoid care giver burnout.
People who care for chronically ill patients often devote the majority of their day providing care and often have little time to take care of themselves.
If burnout occurs, not only is that bad for the care giver, but the person they are taking care of.
Caregivers should not feel guilty asking for help from others who may be able to provide assistance in the care of loved ones.
