RICHMOND, VA (WWBT) - Changes are expected Tuesday when it comes to property taxes in the city of Richmond.
An unplanned extension will be a relief for thousands of people facing a quick deadline right now to pay their personal property taxes.
A computer error is to blame.
The bills were sent with the wrong values and they were late.
Many people getting them just two weeks ago.
That would have made Tuesday the due date for the tax bills.
The city's goal is to give everyone 30 days to pay their taxes.
Council members say the extension will give people more time to look at their bill and make sure it is correct.
That's the purpose of Tuesday's meeting.
It starts at 5:00 p.m. in the City Council Chambers.
All nine members of the City Council are expected to approve moving the payment deadline to June 1.
