Charlottesville, VA (WWBT)- Virginia wide receiver Kris Burd helped the Cavaliers earn a bowl berth for the first time since the 2007 season this past year. Now the Matoaca product eyes a roster spot on an NFL team.
Burd signed an undrafted rookie free agent deal with the New York Jets on Sunday morning. He made the announcement on Twitter and will now look to impress at Jets rookie camp. Burd led the Cavaliers in receptions (66), receiving yards (913), receiving yards per game (70.2) and tied for the team lead in touchdown receptions (3).
Burd is one of a handful of Cavaliers to sign with teams as undrafted rookie free agents. Defensive end Cam Johnson was the only UVA player selected in the NFL Draft this past weekend, going in the seventh round to the San Francisco 49ers.
