Gbinije will transfer to Syracuse

Richmond, VA (WWBT)- Benedictine product Mike Gbinije announced earlier this month that he was transferring from Duke.  His decision lands him on a team that will be a conference rival to the Blue Devils come 2013-2014 when he is eligible.

Gbinije will transfer to Syracuse and will sit out a year due to NCAA rules.  The move was confirmed to NBC12 by Benedictine head coach Sean McAloon.  The small forward averaged less than two points and one rebound during his freshman year at Duke.  The Orange are currently in the Big East, but will make the jump to the ACC following the 2012-2013 school year, so Gbinije will still run into his former Duke teammates from time to time.

The former Cadet will be eligible to take the court in the fall of 2013.
